The newly appointed chairman of Infosys Nandan Nilekani on Friday showed excitement over returning to the second largest information technology (IT) firm, where he is a co-founder and had earlier served as the co-chairman.

Earlier, Nilekani said he was happy to return to Infosys, where he joined in his 20s. He said he looked forward "to working with my colleagues on the board and in executive management on the business opportunities we see before us and delivering benefits to our clients, shareholders, employees and communities."
In a move that came as a significant victory for co-founder NR Narayana Murthy in his year long battle with company's Board and R Seshasayee, Nilekani on Thursday was appointed as the chairman of the company's Board replacing Seshasayee, who stepped down from his position.
Nilakani had stepped down in July 2009 to build a technical citizen identification program called 'Aadhaar' for the Indian government.
Infosys came under the media scrutiny after CEO Vishal Sikka dramatically resigned from the company after a year long-tussle with the founders.
The company's independent directors – Jeffrey S Lehman and John Etchemendy had also resigned from the board. Ravi Venkatesan has also stepped down as co-chairman but will continue to serve as an independent director. However, UB Pravin Rao will remain the interim CEO.
