Kerala: SBI, ICICI Bank waive off various transaction charges for flood-hit customers

The State Bank of India and ICICI Bank have announced to waive off various transaction charges for flood-hit people in Kerala. The southern state has been ravaged by one of severe floods in the century. The banks have also annnounced a number of financial measures to provide financial relief to the people. 

SBI has donated Rs 2 crore to the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF). SBI has also appealed to its 2.7 lakh employees to make contributions to help out people in need. SBI has also decided not to charge fee on banking transactions. The bank has waived off processing fee for any loan relating to flood relief measure, charges for issuing duplicate passbook, ATM card, Cheque books had also been removed. 

SBI has also waived off fine on late payment of EMI. Besides, all charges on remittance to CMDRF (including NEFT / RTGS remittance from other banks) have been waived off. Charges on non-maintenance of minimum balance from proceeds of relief fund provided by government and agencies to be put on hold. If any such charges is recovered, the same would be refunded.

ICICI Bank, the largest private lender in the country has also announced measures to provide support for the Kerala people. ICICI BAnk itself has donated Rs 10 crore. Apart from this, it has decided to remove penalties on late payment of EMIs for all retail loans for the month of August. 

ICICI Bank has also decided not to charge fine for late payment of credit card dues, and there won't be any cheque bouncing charges for the customers in Kerala this month.

1. Amazon

Amazon India has tied up with NGOs in order to provide much-needed help to the Kerala victims. To donate via Amazon, all you need to do is to login to your Amazon account. You can see the list of Amazon's list of various NGOs that are doing their bit from providing help to the shelters to taking care of groceries and daily need items. You can select any NGOs according to your preference. 

After selecting the NGO, you can select products across categories which you want to send through your NGO. Then proceed to checkout and write the gift registry address. The last step is to make the payment. 

2. Paytm

Paytm ahs also given an option to donate via its app. Click on the Kerala icon and you will be able to see choices of fund you would want your contribution to go through. The visible choices are Kerala CM's Distress Relief Fund, gaon Connection Fund and Kailash Satyarthi Children's Foundation. 

3. Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF)

The Chief Minister also appealed the citizen to make a donation. Following are the account details if you want to donate directly to the CM's fund.
