HDFC, ICICI help Sensex to touch new record high, ends at 251 points higher

Benchmark index Sensex touched its highest point ever before closing on Monday. Sensex advanced 251.12 points to end at 34,843.51. 

Following the Sensex,Nifty too ended on record high, it surged 60.3 points to finish at a record high of 10,741.55.

Both the benchmark indices rallied due to sudden increase in the shares of HDFC and ICICI bank. 

HDFC and ICICI Bank were the top gainers on both indices, while Hero MotoCorp, GAIL, Eicher Motors and Tata Motors DVR lost the most.

During the day too, Sensex and Nifty had a good trade session. In the morning trade, the Sensex had gained over 350 points, while the Nifty had gained almost 100 points to trade comfortably above 10,750. 

Sensex and Nifty soared to new heights over positive macroeconomic data and encouraging q3 corporate earnings. 

Asian shares too hit historic highs on Monday after Wall Street extended its record-breaking run, while the US dollar retreat continued as investors priced in the risk of tighter policies elsewhere in the developed world.

Back at home, Sensex scaled its fresh all-time high of 34,933.22 in early trade on Monday,  while the NSE Nifty surpassed 10,700 for the first time ever.
