The wholesale gur (jaggery) market settled quiet in the national capital today following restricted activity.

Arrivals and offtake too remained at a low ebb and volume of business small.

However, gur Chakku in Muzaffarnagar rose by Rs 50 per quintal on paucity of stocks and speculative buying.

Elsewhere, other gur varieties in Muzaffarnagar and Muradnagar ruled flat in thin trading.

Marketmen said paucity of stocks following negligible arrivals from manufacturing areas due to adverse weather conditions, pushed up gur chakku prices in Muzaffarnagar.

In Muzaffarnagar gur Chakku prices marked ahead by Rs 50 to settle the day at Rs 3,150-3,250 per quintal.

Following are today's rates (in Rs per quintal): Gur chakku Rs 3,500-3,600, pedi Rs 3,700-3,800, dhayya Rs 3,800-3,900 and shakkar Rs 4,000-4,100.

Muzaffarnagar: Rasket Rs 2,575-2,625, chakku Rs 3,150-3,250, khurpa Rs N.Q. and Ladoo Rs 3,250-3,300.

Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 3,350-3,400 and dhayya Rs 3,400- 3,450.
