GroupM South Asia has restructured its leadership to be able to deliver the advantages of global operations and learnings with local expertise and sharp market insights. The data-centric, digitally-charged marketing services conglomerate has initiated brand-new roles in the organisation.

Accordingly, Prasanth Kumar (PK) has been named chief operating officer (COO) and Tushar Vyas president - growth and transformation for the South Asia region.

Sam Singh, chief executive officer, GroupM South Asia, said both PK and Tushar are passionate leaders with high integrity and proven ability to envision and deliver successful outcomes in a challenging environment. "As we become a more data-centric organisation, there is a need to drive transformation and build future capabilities with a focus on digital, data, analytics and content. We must work across GroupM to drive organisational transformation and operational excellence. The new team structure is another step in this direction."

An MBA graduate from Madras University, with over two decades' experience, PK will be responsible for operational excellence ensuring client expectations are reliably met by continuously improving processes. He will also guide and lead the teams across operating companies (OpCos), trading and specialised units to execute the same more consistently while fortifying partnerships.

In his new role, Vyas will operate out of Mumbai and drive digital transformation, focus on building GroupM-wide capability focusing on digital, data, analytics, content and working across the company to ensure clients stay ahead of the curve. With over 20 years of experience in digital, media, advertising and technology, Vyas is a Chevening Rolls-Royce Fellow (innovation, science and leadership).

Additionally, Parthasarathy Mandayam (Maps) has been named Mindshare's CEO effective February 1, 2019. He will report into Sam Singh, PK and Amrita Randhawa, CEO, Mindshare Asia Pacific. An alumnus of BITS Pilani and IIM Calcutta, Maps has over two decades of experience in the advertising and communications industry, all within the WPP Group.

Departing from GroupM South Asia effective January 31, 2019, is chief growth officer Lakshmi Narasimhan who has decided to pursue personal interests.

The company is also adding a new role appointing Amin Lakhani as COO of Mindshare for South Asia region. With over 20 years' experience in various roles in Mindshare and GroupM, Lakhani is currently leading client leadership at Mindshare. After assuming the new role, he will be reporting to CEO Mindshare South Asia.

Commenting on the latest developments, PK, the new COO of GroupM, said, "Our industry is an ever-mutating one, so we have to also continue to evolve and adapt. With Maps and Amin now at the helm of Mindshare, we have leaders with a proven track record of consistently achieving clients' business goals. They will continue cultivating client relationships at the highest level and delivering great results."
