The dazzling launch of ZEE5 at a grand function saw many TV and film celebrities raising a toast to the success of the app.
The platform already has prominent personalities from films, TV and music doing shows on it. Rapper Badshah has a music show, Lockdown, which brings together singers from the mainstream and YouTube. A 10-episode series, each one will have a You Tuber and singer creating two songs. “These will be recreations but nonetheless challenging,” says Badshah, who has already got singers like Raftaar, musician duo Sachin-Jigar, Jonita Gandhi and Arjun Kanungo in the show. When asked why he chose ZEE5, he said, “I have watched Zee shows as a child. Now they gave me complete freedom and the budget to produce a show like this.”
The app is now available for download for Android and iOS users. Additionally, ZEE5 will also be available across Amazon Fire TV Stick, Chromecast and on www.zee5.com. The new OTT platform is currently available in India and will roll out in global markets over the next three months.
Swara Bhaskar too will be seen a show called The Story where different celebrities will be narrating and enacting an incident from their lives. “It can be true or false incident. I have a mad incident to tell and it was great fun to shoot. Digital is the future and scale of the show is impressive. It can be watched in 12 languages! I see it as a chance to perform and connect with audience who may not have watched my films,” she said.
Also, over 500 hours of content shown on the Zee channels will be available on ZEE5 within minutes after its aired on TV. They already have in their library 3500 films in multiple languages. More than 100 films will be premiered every month.
One of the coolest features of the app is voice search that will help people who are not digitally savvy. They can search for content by simply speaking the name of a show or movie. While most apps offer the option of downloading content, ZEE5 goes a step further. You can save the content on the SD/memory card.
