The Centre has asked private television channels to create awareness about the Goods and Services Tax (GST) by running scrolls on screen.

"GST Cell is organising GST awareness campaign 'Manthan' across the country. In order to publicise the same, it is requested that scrolls on the issue may be run by channels," Amit Katoch, Director (Broadcasting), Information and Broadcasting Ministry, said in a letter to all private satellite channels.

The Goods and Services Tax came into effect from July 1 across the country.
