Job alert: Indian IT major firms have start hiring. Firms like TCS, Infosys are looking to increase the headcount and are back in the job market.

The hiring trend came after a major slowdown when IT firms had to laid off around 56,000 employees in 2017.

Accroding to a Quartz report, in the last two quarters of 2018, the net employee addition of Infosys was better than any quarter in the previous five years. Infosys added around 7,762 employees.

For TCS, according to the report, between September and December 2018, TCS’ net addition of employees was 6,827.

Meanwhile, one of the largest e-tailer firm Amazon has highest openings based out of India.

According to its official website, Amazon has as many as 1300 vacancies in India across various roles. Most of the openings are in Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Chennai.

Neighbour China has 467 jobs while Japan has 381 job vacancies

Australia and Singapore have 250 and 174 openings respectively.

It should be noted that the higest number of vacancies in India come even after the recent government policies that could badly impact Amazon's growth in the country.

Earlier, tightening norms for e-commerce firms having foreign investment, the government barred online marketplaces like Flipkart and Amazon from selling products of companies where they hold stakes and banned exclusive marketing arrangements that could influence product price.

The revised policy on foreign direct investment in online retail, issued by the commerce and industry ministry, also said that these firms have to offer equal services or facilities to all its vendors without discrimination.

The revised norms are aimed at protecting the interest of domestic players, who have to face tough competition from e-retailers having deep pockets from foreign investors, the ministry said.
