From Ahmedabad Shopping Festival 2019 to Vibrant Gujarat Summit: Here's what PM Modi's 3-day visit include

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Gujarat on Thursday for a 3-day visit. In his first engagement, PM Modi inaugurated Vibrant Gujarat Global Trade Show at the Mahatma Mandir Exhibition cum Convention Center in Gandhinagar.

At the Gujarat Vibrant Show, More than 25 industrial and business sectors would be showcased at the event. In the evening, the PM inauguarted Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Institute of Medical Sciences and Research in Ahmedabad. Built by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, the super-speciality public hospital has all the modern amenities, including an air ambulance.

Later PM Modi inauguarated 12-day long Ahmedabad Shopping Festival 2019, organised simultaneously with Vibrant Gujarat. The Amdavad Shopping Festival (AMF) would end on January 28, 2019. 

PM Modi also unveiled the Vibrant Gujarat Ahmedabad Shopping Festival Mascot and address people.

On Friday, the Prime Minister would inaugurate the 9th edition of Vibrant Gujarat Summit in Gandhinagar. Heads of state of some countries are also likely to reach Gandhinagar for the Summit but no delegation from Pakistan would be attending the event. 

The summit was initiated in 2003 by Narendra Modi when he was the Gujarat Chief Minister.

On Saturday, the PM would visit Hazira to mark the setting up of the Hazira Gun Factory before visiting Silvassa in Dadra Nagar Haveli. He would inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of a number of development projects.

What is Ahmedabad Shopping Festival?

The 12-day Ahmedabad Shopping Festival includes more than 15,000 shopkeepers, seller and manufacturers. The shopping festival have promised to offer up to 60 per cent discount on items.

"In addition to daily discounts, there will be a prize for shoppers every minute. Over 12 days, prizes worth more than Rs 10 crore will be given to participants. Every day, we will announce a bumper prize, which could be a car, jewellery and garments," said Mayor Bijal Patel. Distribution of the bumper draw prizes will be held at Sardar Patel Stadium in Navrangpura.

Other than electronics and garments, local handicraft items would be on sale as well. 

A dedicated space at the Riverfront has been earmarked for handicraft items from across the state. Besides, there would be cultural programmes every day.

Vibrant Gujarat Summit

As mentioned above, the summit was initiated in 2003 by Narendra Modi when he was the Gujarat Chief Minister.

The trade show would have different exhibits from sectors like agro and food processing, automobiles and e-mobility, banking and finance, chemicals and petrochemicals, oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, ceramics, ports, textiles, transports, and logistics.

As many as 15 nations, including Canada, France, Japan, Poland, South Korea, Netherlands, UAE, South Africa, Sweden, and Uzbekistan would have their own pavilions to promote their trade in India. A separate pavilion for African nations will promote trade and culture with India.

Attractions like a miniature Statue of Unity, a simulator of the Bullet Train, a Farm to Fabric pavilion and others will be showcased at the VGGTS. There would be a fashion show on January 19 at Ahmedabad Riverfront promoting Khadi fabric into the fashion world.
