The government had earlier waived late fee for delayed filing of the maiden returns for the month of July under the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime.

The Union Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley on Tuesday announced a major relief to the taxpayers as he said that the late fee on filing of the GST returns for the month of August and September would be waived off.
He further said that the late fee that has been already paid by the taxpayer will be credited back to his/her ledger.
The Finance Minister took to Twitter to inform about the decision.
To facilitate taxpayers, late fee on filing of GSTR-3B for Aug&Sept has been waived. Late fee paid will be credited back to taxpayer ledger.

Meanwhile, the government has started the process of providing refunds to exporters for the month of August and September. GST Network CEO Prakash Kumar on Monday said that the GST portal will soon launch an online application for processing exporters’ refunds for Integrated GST (IGST) paid by them for August and September.
He also mentioned that a separate mobile app for the same will also be launched this week.
Kumar said that the GST Network (GSTN), which handles IT infrastructure for the tax regime, has started issuing refunds from October 10 to exporters for Integrated GST (IGST) they paid for the month of July, after matching GSTR-3B and GSTR-1. For August and September, while the initial return GSTR- 3B has already been filed, the final return GSTR-1 has not yet been filed.
