Alarmed by the cash crunch, the Reserve Bank of India has sought urgent printing of currency notes at the Dewas printing press. Employees have been asked to work in three shifts instead of two, sources said.

Meanwhile, it has been revealed that the RBI did not print any notes of Rs 2,000 and Rs 500 denomination from March, which led to the crunch, according to Jagdeesh Godse, president of the Security Press Employees Union at Nashik.
