The Ayurveda Education and Research Institute Bill was passed in Parliament on Wednesday. During the discussion on the Bill, Rajya Sabha MP Subhash Chandra stressed the need to further promote Ayurveda in the world. He said that the development of Ayurveda should be made a national mission.

He said, 'Ayurveda is an ancient science whose scope is very vast. There is hardly any disease whose cure is not possible with Ayurveda science. Some people oppose this by saying that Ayurveda can cure only certain diseases, not serious diseases, which is not correct. Ayurveda can cure every disease."

Rajya Sabha MP Subhash Chandra said, "Our Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi had said in a statement before independence that Ayurveda should be given priority in the public health system after independence."

Dr. Chandra further said, 'Many speakers have talked about 150 years old medical institutions of the country. These institutions are doing a good job. But it is necessary to modernize them over time, which is not happening. Ayurveda science completely vanished during the British rule."

Referring to earlier speakers participating in the discussion on the bill, Rajya Sabha MP Subhash Chandra said, 'Some speakers said in the House that in the last one year, 80 million dollars of Ayurvedic medicines have been exported. I believe it should be 800 billion dollars a year. China has occupied a 28% share in the global market in terms of Ayurvedic medicines. Germany and Switzerland have also done more work in the field of Ayurveda than in our country. It is a matter of shame for us."

Pointing to the problem, Dr. Chandra said, 'The problem is that after independence, we did not pay attention to the ancient science-related knowledge of Ayurveda and due to which it has come down. In 2014, the government created the Ministry of AYUSH. That is why today it is at the center of discussion."

Rajya Sabha MP Subhash Chandra also gave five suggestions:

1. Financial assistance should be given to farmers for large scale cultivation of medical plants.
2. Standards for the manufacturing of Ayurveda drugs should be set before the raw materials are sent to the pharmaceutical industry.
3. A large-scale budget should be given for research and development in this area.
4. I praise the Government's decision to open AIIA for the excellence of Ayurvedic medicines. If nature care and yoga are made part of this institution, then it will be better.
5. Finally, we should make Ayurveda science a national mission so that we can save billions of dollars from going out of the country. This will also strengthen the Indian economy.
