The Narendra Modi government may be worried about economic slowdown and gloom over unemployment in the country, but Union Ministers Mahesh Sharma and Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore feel the government is a decisive one that works on national interest and its efforts will soon show results.

Speaking at the 'Ministerial Conclave — The Growth Debate' organised by Zee Business — Union Minister of State for Culture, and Environment, forest and Climate Change, Sharma launched a sharp attack on the Congress saying that people had lost faith in the UPA government because of the policy paralysis, and now Modi has reinstated the trust.

Defending Modi government's demonetization move and GST roll-out, Sharma said there should be a strong will to take decisions. "If there is an ailment, there has to be a bitter pill for that, even though it may take time to show results," Sharma said. He added that the Union Government has always had an open mind and been open to suggestions.

Sharma also claimed that demonetization has helped reduce incidents of terror attacks launched by Naxals and other ultras. "Everybody knows that stone pelters were paid Rs 500.. demonetization has helped bring down such incidents and naxals attacks significantly," he said.

Speaking about the prevailing gloom over employment in the country, Union Minister of State for information and broadcasting, youth affairs and sports, Rajyavardhan Rathore said it is a good sign that the government is concerned about providing jobs to the youth.

"All governments must always be concerned for the next generation, and that's why so much of work is being done by the Modi government towards skilling the youth, boosting new start-ups, and funding sports. Modi government is creating a sense of self-belief in each and every Indian," he said.

On jobs for youth, Rathore said India is a big market for the world and hence it's important that the world produces in India. He also said 'Make in India' initiative will ensure there are jobs and money circulation within the country.

"Make in India will increase manufacturing, and hence create more jobs besides opening a larger market for buyers," Rathore said, adding that it will be a brand building for the country.

"Why is India attracting FDI? Only because the investors trust India to be a stable market," he said.

Rathore emphasised that the government's biggest battle was to address leakages and reducing corruption.

"The youth knows they would not have to seek favour for getting jobs. Government is plugging leakages of subsidies by DBT, more then 50K cr has been saved so far," he said, adding that the youth knows that the government is going in one direction and that is the right direction.
