After getting rid of the system of tagging hand baggages, CISF is looking at ways to get rid of stamping boarding cards to give passengers more seamless experience. And passengers travelling from Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru airport are likely to avail this facility soon.

As per media report, a pilot project is being rolled out in Delhi and Bengaluru which is likely to be extended to Mumbai after three months. According to CISF officials, earlier the project was done in Hyderabad project. Along side this, Airport Authority of India is looking at starting paperless boarding in three airports as part of the Digi Yatra scheme. However, parallelly CISF is looking to get rid of this tedious stamping process to make boarding much more hassle-free for passengers.

The big issue however is to ensure that stringent security measures continue to remain enforced even if boarding cards are not tagged. For this, airports are looking to upgrade the CCTV cameras, so that clear records are maintained which can be referred to in case something goes wrong. Officials believe powerful cameras can essentially offset the work done by the stamping of boarding passes. These steps are aligned to CISF DG's vision of getting rid of practices which are already redundant in the West. However for that India needs to upgrade its tech, which the authorities are looking to do. The airport authorities are also keen to give passengers seamless travelling experience.Once all the issues are sorted out, soon stamping boarding passes may become a thing of the past.
