Burger King Russia has been reportedly trying to put a ban on Stephen King's highest grosser film, IT .

According to media reports, Burger King has filed a complaint with Russia’s Federal Anti-Monopoly Service (FAS) over the reason that the movie's main character Pennywise shares too much of a resemblance with Ronald McDonald, the mascot of McDonald’s, and would act as an advertisement for purport McDonald's.

The film did the highest business at the ticket window for a horror film in Russia.

Meanwhile, IT has amassed $500 million at the box office and has become the highest grosser of the year worldwide.

"Crossing $500 million is rarified air for any film, but for a horror film it is history-making, and we could not be prouder," said Sue Kroll, president of worldwide marketing and distribution at Warner Bros.

Apart from Russia, the film had the highest opening day business in more than 30 countries, including UK, Brazil, Mexico, and Australia. Out of which, in 17 countries It has already become the top-grossing horror film of all time.

Overwhelmed with It's success, the producers had already announced the release of its sequel, September 6 in 2019. The studio had revealed earlier this month that Gary Dauberman was working on the script.
