Brahmin Business Summit commences, 1,200 businessmen attend

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani on Saturday inaugurated Brahmin Business Summit 2018, the first ever meet by the community in the state. Over 1200 businessmen are going to attend the event over the two days.

A job fair is also being organised simultaneously, where more than 10,000 job-seekers are expected to visit. “It is good that such job fairs are being held. Looking at the current scenario, it is good for the social upliftment of the community. Earlier, Patidar and Khstriya community used to hold such summits. This is a very creative project to bring together people on one platform,” said Rupani.

Giving information on the government schemes regarding the unreserved categories, Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel said:  “We have allocated Rs 600 crore for 58 castes and sub-castes who do not falls under the reserved categories for this year’s budget. We are going to help them with financial aid – for education and business purpose.”

Speaker of the state assembly Rajendra Trivedi was also one of the guests at the event. He said, “Ambedkar was a Brahmin. Because the surname, Ámbedkar’ is given by his teacher and the surname is brahmin.”

Yagnesh Dave, the convener of the Samast Gujarat Brahm Samaj, said, “The purpose of the event is to become a bridge between Brahmin businessmen, for business agreement and for inclusive growth of the community. We are also trying to decrease unemployment rate by organising a job fair for Brahmin youth.”

The officials of Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) are going to guide the community members regarding business investment opportunities on Sunday. There were more than 90 stalls for exhibition and sale of the products prepared by the community entrepreneurs. Around 2 lakh footfall is expected in the two days event.

After Patidars and Rajputs, the Brahmin community of Gujarat is set to host a Business Summit to boost trade within the community members in Gandhinagar.

The influential Patidar community had organised a Business Summit at Mahatma Mandir in January, while the Rajput Business Expo had taken place in Ahmedabad in February.
