Bengaluru-Mysuru National Highway will be widened and will become an access controlled highway as the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has given out its Letter of Award to Dilip Builcon Limited to upgrade and increase the capacity of this highway.

Earlier this week, NHAI selected Bhopal based Dilip Builcon for the project. The existing road has two lanes on either side.

The estimated cost for the works is Rs 6,212.765 crore for this 117.30 km long highway between the two cities of Karanataka and is likely to be ready by June 2020.

As per the designs, the highway will not only be widened but will also have service roads on both the sides on the entire length.

Additionally, bypasses will also be developed to cut down on travelling time between the two cities. Presently, city congestion leads to slowing down on vehicular movement on certain stretches of Bengaluru-Mysuru National Highway.

The bypasses will come up at Bidadi (6.994 km), Ramanagara & Channapatna (22.35 km), Madur (4.459 km), Mandya (10.04 km) and Srirangapatna (8.194 km). The bypasses of Madur and Srirangapatna will be elevated.

Apart from these bypasses, the Bengaluru section will get a 4.42 km long elevated corridor.

A total of 53 bridges (9 major and 44 minor bridges) will also come up along the corridor.
