The much awaited good news related to the minimum pay hike beyond recommendations of seventh pay commission and increase in retirement age for around 50 lakh government employees will reportedly come before 2019 general elections, claimed a report. However, the government earlier denied any increase in minimum basic pay beyond the seventh pay commission.

A report by Sen Times said the BJP government is likely to agree their demands in a bid to return to power in 2019. The report further said the government would follow the footsteps of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan who recently the retirement age to 62 years from the current 60.

“Taking a leaf from Chouhan ahead of general elections next year, The BJP-led central government is mulling to implement the pay hike for central government employees,” a senior government official told the Sen Times.

It also said that tracking the footprints of the Madhya Pradesh government, the centre might work upon the latest option to provide benefits to the 50 lakh employees under 7th pay commission.

Central government reportedly is mulling over to increase the retirement age of the employees by two more years. The MP government led by Shivraj Singh Chauhan has already done it.

With the latest move under seventh pay commission, the retirement age of employees in the state of Madhya Pradesh is has been raised to 62 years. Previously, it was 60 years.

Currently, the Central government employees are getting basic pay according to the fitment formula of 2.57 of the basic pay and if this big step is taken, it will come as a massive news for the Central government employees.

Fitment factor is a figure used by 7th CPC with which the basic pay in 6th CPC regime (i.e Pay in Pay band + Grade pay) is multiplied in order to fix basic pay in revised pay structure (i.e 7th CPC). Fitment factor formulated by 7th CPC is 2.57.

The Seventh Pay Commission had earlier recommended Rs 18,000 as the basic salary but the employees are demanding it to raise further to Rs 26,000.
