One year of demonetization: Congress serves the family, we serve the nation, says Arun Jaitley

There has been significant pick-up in digital transaction post demonetization, says Arun Jaitley. He says that the entire process has got fast tracked post note-ban. 

About the latest Tehelka story, Jaitley says that interference with agencies was very regular in the past regime. 

Arun Jaitley claims that remonetization happened very quickly and hence the trade pick-up started soon after. 

About Manmohan Singh's criticism, Arun Jaitley says all that former PM needs to do is to compare the economy pre and post 2014. Jaitley claims that pre-2014 the economy was suffering policy paralysis, was off the global radar and even India was in brink of being eliminated from BRICS. Jaitley says that now every international agency is eulogising the structural reforms done by India. 

Jaitley says that it is very important to have a clean economy at a time when Indian economy is looking to take-off, hence demonetization was very essential. 

Jaitley says Congress has never taken any big steps to curb blackmoney. 

Jaitley says that the Modi government is looking to do structural reforms, whereas UPA government was suffering from policy paralysis for 10 years. He says, an ant- black money drive is an ethical drive. Jaitley says what is morally and ethically correct is politically correct. He says loot happened in 2G and CWG. 

Arun Jaitley says Congress and BJP have very different ethics. He says Congress' primary objective is serve the Family, whereas for them it is to serve the nation. 

Arun Jaitley says it isn't that demonetization is anathema of all problems, but it is certainly a positive step forward. He says number  of tax givers have increased, there have been squeeze on terror funding, value of high-denomination currency has decreased. Arun Jaitley says that there is more resources to be allocated to the system post demonetization. 

Union Finance Minister says through data mining and technology, identification of people with dubious deposits during demonetization are being done. He says that demonetized notes being deposited in banks is not an indicatior of success or failure of the measure. Jaitley claims that broadly demonetization has succeeded in all its goals.
