Siddhant Chaturvedi has quite an interesting journey to 'Gully Boy'. As just another man trying to fulfill his wish, Siddhant's spirit appeared unbreakable, which was probably the reason why director Zoya Akhtar though he could ace the role of MC Sher, whereas Zoya had a senior actor in mind for the same originally.

Talking to Mumbai Mirror, Siddhant revealed that Zoya warned he might not be selected as MC Sher for 'Gully Boy', but eventually he was finalized for the role. “She (Zoya) had categorically informed me to not be disheartened if things didn’t work out, as she was looking to cast someone older who was already an established actor. I started to prep for the audition by writing my own poems since I have some knowledge of rhyme and rhythm and rapped them dressed like a rapper. I sailed through,” said Siddhant.

How did Siddhant meet up Zoya Akhtar too is an inspiring story. The actor, who was in his final year of CA, started auditioning for films, but only bagged a few web-series. At one such success bash, Siddhant showed his confidence. He asked the DJ to play 'Gallan Goodiyan' and pulled Zoya Akhtar, who he just spotted at the party, onto the dance floor. A few days later, he was called to audition for 'Gully Boy'.

On the film sets too, Siddhant received praises from Ranveer himself. “You are killing it on your first day bro,” said Ranveer. Chaturvedi added that he never felt stressed on the sets, and was rather more comfortable around Ranveer and Zoya. He stated that is the situation even today, despite all the movies he has in his kitty. “Today, I have multiple films, but the expectations are not making me stressed. I am still as excited. I will be nervous only when I come to the set under-prepared and I hope that day never comes,” the actor, who aced the role of MC Sher in 'Gully Boy', concluded.
