Zee Studios’ Naal becomes 2018’s highest Marathi opener

The film is second only to the blockbuster Sairat

Zee Studios’ latest Naal has not only recorded the biggest opening at the regional box-office this year but also collected Rs 14 crore in one week. It is now the second-highest grosser among Marathi films and stands right next to Sairat. Incidentally,  the 2016 blockbuster was also backed by Zee Studios, who have created diverse content that has earned critical acclaim as well as the audiences’ appreciation. The film company continues to set new benchmarks with its varied Marathi films. 

Helmed by Sudhakar Reddy, Naal, which depicts the diverse nuances of a mother-son relationship, opened to packed houses across Maharashtra.

Sudhakar says, “I’m overwhelmed with the kind of response Naal is getting from masses and the classes. Making this film was like a dream come true.”

Nagraj Manjule, who doubles up as the producer and an actor for this movie, added, “It is almost as if there is a renaissance across the Marathi cinema. The success of this film is definably a triumph of the art.” Shariq Patel, CEO, Zee Studios, enthuses, “Considering the smashing success and the audience’s love for the film, we’ve increased screen count to 450 across India with 11,000 shows daily. Mangesh Kulkarni, Business Head, Zee Studios adds, “This film has the capacity to go far to set multiple records.”
