As soon as Karan Johar put out a video of various Bollywood celebrities partying at his house, came an accusation claiming that the celebrities were involved in drugs, and Vicky Kaushal had just taken them
On July 30, an MLA named Manjinder S Sirsa shared a video posted by filmmaker Karan Johar, of well-known Bollywood celebrities partying at his house. Sirsa took to his Twitter handle and accused the celebrities of taking drugs. He tweeted, "#UDTABollywood - Fiction Vs Reality Watch how the high and mighty of Bollywood proudly flaunt their drugged state!! I raise my voice against #DrugAbuse by these stars. RT if you too feel disgusted @shahidkapoor @deepikapadukone @arjunk26 @Varun_dvn @karanjohar @vickykaushal09"
The accusation created quite a storm on the internet, with many other people pointing out a white content near Vicky Kaushal's lap, his gesture of rubbing his nose and Ayan Mukerji hiding something, as the use of drugs in the party. Congress politician aka MLA Milind Deora slammed the tweet by replying, "My wife was also present that evening (and is in the video). Nobody was in a “drugged state” so stop spreading lies & defaming people you don’t know! I hope you will show the courage to tender an unconditional apology."
In a recent interview with CNN-News 18's Rajeev Masand, Karan Johar was asked about the incident, to which a pissed Karan Johar stated, "I toyed with giving out a statement, thought out there into social media zone. Apparently you're not allowed to scratch your nose, put your phone in your back pocket, a shadow of light is perceived to be some kind of powder. Where the hall in my house is, my mother lives exactly 10 minutes away. She was sitting with us 5 minutes before the video was taken. There were achieving members of the industry, who were having an easy night out after a hard week of work. Would I put out a video if there was anything happening at all? I don't react very well to these baseless accusations. We friends were listening to music, having good food and conversational energy. Vicky was recovering from dengue. Sure, some of us chatting were having a glass of wine, but that's it. With such accusations, you're taking away the culture and tradition that I and everybody in that room has been raised with. I didn't put it out because it looked stupid to justify a houseparty where friends were having good conversational time. People should say that there's warmth between them, which is why I put out the video. I'm so afraid to call people home now. This (accusation) came out of the blue. We're self-respecting, law-abiding citizens of this great country."
He also went on to add, "Am I saying I'm a victim? Don't victimize me, but don't accuse me of something I haven't done. I don't want your sympathy and pity, and I don't deserve it probably, but I don't deserve your baseless accusation either."
