Yami Gautam made her Bollywood debut back in 2012 opposite Ayushmann Khurrana in Vicky Donor. Before that, she starred in television shows namely Chand Ke Paar Chalo, Raajkumar Aaryyan and Yeh Pyar Na Hoga Kam. Since 2012, there was no turning back for Yami as she has been a part of hit movies namely Badlapur, Kaabil, Uri: The Surgical Strike and the latest being, Bala which marked her reunion with Ayushmann after their debut together.

Yami is someone who made it on her own from modelling, television shows and now movies. During an interaction with Pinkvilla, the beautiful actor spoke about how she is happy coming from a non-filmy background. Yami stated, "Not knowing anyone in the industry, without a godfather, it is very challenging. I'm saying it as a matter of fact. When your film does, great but when your film doesn't do well, you don't get many options that justify your talent."

The actor was further quizzed about having a non-filmy last name, to which she replied, "You can't change the fact where I proudly come from. Hai yeh fact toh usse accept karne mein kya problem hai? Even if I feel I would have got things if I was from the industry, it's not true. No, mujhe yeh perspective nahi milti jo mere paas hai, yeh family nah milti. I wouldn't have been me and I want to be like myself only."

Meanwhile, on the work front, Yami will next be seen in Ginny Weds Sunny in which she is paired opposite Vikrant Massey.
