Manoj Bajpayee and Sidharth Malhotra starrer Neeraj Pandey film Aiyaary was initially supposed to release this January 26. Then, it was to face competition at the box office from Akshay Kumar's R Balki film Pad Man. When Sanjay Leela Bhansali decided to release his magnum opus Padmaavat on January 25, the makers of aiyaary shidted their release date to February 9.

After SLB requested Akshay to move the release date of Pad Man to allow Padmaavat to have a solo release on January 25 and Akshay graciously complied, it's once again Aiyaary vs Pad Man at the box office. When Manoj Bajpayee was quizzed about both the films coming together once again, he said, "We're not moving the release date any further. Earlier also we were to come together. If it's happening again on February 9th,we'll hug each other. We're all friends so we'll hug each other."

Bajpayee further added, "I think we've already been generous enough to move (our release date) since there were 3 movies coming together on Jan 25 and there aren't as many theatres in the country, but now we're coming on February 9."

On Friday, Akshay had held a press con at his Juhu residence where he announced that he's decided to shift the release of Pad Man on request of SLB. HE was joined by Bhansali, who thanked Akshay for his kind gesture and said that Akshay agreed in two minutes to push Pad Man ahead. SLB also said that it takes a large heart to do something like this and the film fraternity will remember him for his kind gesture.
