Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus Padmaavat is setting new records for its lead actors Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor. Though all three actors have earned tremendous praise for their act in the film, it is Ranveer's menacing portrayal of Alauddin Khilji that has earned maximum applauds.
Now, the makers of Padmaavat have released the song Khalibali from the film which is picturized on Ranveer's Khilji. Ranveer owns the song, pretty much like the entire film and how. He's despicable, he's loathsome and he's so damn energetic in his monstrous portrayal of the character, especially in this song.
Khilji seems to be in a celebratory mood in the Khalibali song. Right from the very first shot of the song, you're drawn into a close up of Khilji's face in a manner in which it's meant to be hated. Yet Ranveer nails the act with the utmost vigour and enthusiasm.
It's a pretty energetic track and Ranveer has admitted in several of his interviews that shooting for Khalibali was one of the most challenging parts about his character in Padmaavat. And it definitely shows! There are moments in the song where Ranveer's feet barely touch the ground because of the intensity and pace with which it has been performed.
Composed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and sung by Shivam Pathak, the song has been penned by A M Turaz. Bhansali's love for top shots and elaborate dance sequences is once again evident in the way the song has been picturized. Wide angles and pan shots capture the best movements of the crew and it only helps that Ranveer is so on point with his expressions and moves.
In case you haven't watched the film, there's a spoiler at the end of the song, but that shouldn't discourage you from watching the magnificence that has been created by Bhansali in Padmaavat.
