Riding on the current of social drama, Ajay Devgn is looking to add his two cents with his upcoming Raid starring him with Ileana D'Cruz and Saurabh Shukla as the villain of the story.

Directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, the first trailer and poster for Raid were released on Tuesday.

Gupta has directed movies like Aamir and No One Killed Jessica. Add that vision to Devgn's expertise honed while doing Prakash Jha movies, the combination looks ripe for the social dramas.

Raid is set in 1981 and follows the story of an income tax officer named Amay Patnaik (played by Devgn) in Lucknow trying to take on a 'powerful corrupt' called Tauji (played by Shukla) with the might of his officers.

The first half of the 2:46-minutes-long trailer showcases the idealism of Parnaik who boasts 49 transfers in seven years in service on account of his honesty. The second half of the trailer focuses on the actual raid part of it and how he has to outsmart a "bahubali" that can amass the support of goons and mob mentality.

The movie gives deja vu feeling to those who have watched Rajkummar Rao's Newton or Akshay Kumar's Special 26. While the first movie bares resemblance when it comes to showing Patnaik's determination to see this thing through, assembling the team, giving them the instructions, and conducting a raid (albeit a serious one, not  the fake kind like in Special 26) comes very close to the style followed by Neeraj Pandey's movie.

Ileana D'Cruz will be playing the caring wife of Devgn's character and gets the reward of a dialogue, "India ke officers ko nahi, unki biwiyon ka bahadur hona jaroori hai (wives of the Indian officers need to be brave)"

Raid is scheduled to release on March 16.
