For a while now, rumour mills have it that that Bollywood star Shahid Kapoor has been diagnosed with stomach cancer.

A report, published as a blind item, stated that the actor has cancer, details of the same, his career path and upcoming projects.

However, while reacting on these baseless reports, Shahid Kapoor's family has said that they are fake. The family has rubbished the rumours calling them baseless.

ABP quoted one of Shahid's family member as saying, "log kuchh bhi kaise likh sakte hain? Aakhir is khabar ka aadhar kya hai? Is tarah ki afwaahein phailaane ko kis tarah se jaayaz thehraya ja sakta hai?" (How can people write just anything? This news is based on what? Spreading rumors like these is not acceptable)."

Meanwhile, on the professional front, Shahid Kapoor was last seen in Batti Gul Meter Chalu opposite Shraddha Kapoor.

The actor will next be seen in Kabir Singh- the Hindi remake of Telugu blockbuster Arjun Reddy. Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the film will see actress Kiara Advani as the lead.

"When we started work on the Hindi script, it was a very exciting journey. Kabir Singh, as the protagonist's name, came naturally, considering the character's graph," Vanga said in a statement.

"Kabir Singh has the same punch and madness of Arjun Reddy," he further went on to say.

Shahid Kapoor, on the other hand, hopes the audience gives the film a lot of love. "Arjun Reddy was loved and appreciated. Now it is time for Kabir Singh! Get reddy to see him in 2019," the actor tweeted.

Kabir Singh will be shot extensively in Mumbai, Delhi and Mussoorie. Shahid will sport four different looks in the film and has been preparing for it over the last three months.
