Veteran actor Viju Khote popular for his roles in 'Sholay' and 'Andaz Apna Apna' passes away

Veteran actor Viju Khote passes away at the age of 78 on Monday morning. He has been known for his comic characters in movies not only in Hindi but also in Marathi as well. Viju was also a veteran in Marathi plays and has received several accolades for his performances in these many years. His most memorable role is as Kaalia in the blockbuster film Sholay where he played one of the henchmen of Gabbar Singh played by Amjad Khan.

In these many years, Viju has been a part of popular movies namely Anokhi Raat, Raampur Ka Lakshman, Benaam, Qurbani, Karz, Andar Baahar, Nagina, Dariya Dil, Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, Benaam Badsha, Karz Chukana Hai, Beta Ho To Aisa, Andaz Apna Apna, China Gate, Mela, Pukar, Hadh Kar Di Aapne, Khiladi 420, Aamdani Atthanni Kharcha Rupaiya, Shararat, Insan, Garam Masala, Viruddh... Family Comes First', Halla Bol, Dhoondte Reh Jaaoge, Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge, Golmaal 3, Club 60, Ventilator to name a few.

Viju is survived by his elder sister Shubha Khote who is also a veteran actor. 

His dialogue in Andaz Apna Apna as Robert 'Galti se mistake ho gaya' is still widely used by the masses and is a favourite among many. 

Earlier talking about his role as Kaalia in Sholay, Vijay had told The Times of India, "It signifies the tremendous popularity of the movie. And that people liked Kaalia as a character."

We have indeed lost a gem of an actor.
