Varun Dhawan-Anushka Sharma work saath-saath

It’s no secret that almost every director and actor today participates in several workshops and script-reading sessions before going on the sets. Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma, who will be seen together for the first time on screen in Sui Dhaaga — Made in India, believe in the same. The two actors are prepping before they begin the shoot for the Sharat Kataria directorial.

“Sui Dhaaga is essentially a love story with a message. It’s a heartwarming tale rooted in the Indian milieu, that’s hugely inspired by the much-acclaimed Make in India campaign. It’s also a huge way of promoting our indigenous textile industries. Varun plays a tailor, whereas Anushka is an embroiderer in the film,” adds our source.

Sew it first

While the film was announced on Gandhi Jayanti last year, Varun and Anushka were caught up with multiple projects in hand. But they have made sure that they have got the nuances of the characters right. Says a source from the team, “Sharat wanted Varun and Anushka to learn how to sew. Both of them have clocked in a lot of hours and now know the craft very well.”

Reading sessions

With around a week to go for the film to kickstart its first schedule (the team begins shoot on Valentine’s Day), the actors are in the final stages of prep. Our source tells us, “Anushka and Varun are doing joint script-reading workshops to get into the skin of their respective characters. Maneesh Sharma (the producer) and Sharat will also join the actors to give their inputs. The team is breaking down every scene for the rehearsals.”

Raring to go

Maneesh, who’s co-producing the film with Yash Raj Films, tells us, “It is amazing to see the dedication that the two actors have. It is a film that will touch your hearts. Anushka and Varun’s characters are rooted in the heartland of our country. They have left no stone unturned to understand their characters thoroughly before the shoot begins.”
