Two decades after Lata Mangeshkar, Shreya Ghoshal performs at Fox Theatre

Having completed 15 years in the industry, Shreya Ghoshal has embarked on a one-of-its-kind music tour in the US with a 40-member Live Symphony band. She recently performed at the Fox Theatre in Detroit. The venue boasts of having witnessed performances by iconic artistes like Elvis Presley, Eminem, Shirley Temple, Frank Sinatra among others. The only Indian artiste to have performed at the said venue about 20 years ago was Lata Mangeshkar and now, it’s Shreya who kickstarted her musical journey in the US from the same place. 

An elated Shreya tells us, “It was a stunning historic venue. Absolutely royal! It felt amazing to sing on this stage where one of the biggest artists of the world has performed. There is so much history to this theatre, we can feel the energy. The band sounded amazing, and I sang all my favourites with all my heart. In this tour, most of the symphony musicians who are playing with me, have been part of the recordings of the original songs of Lataji. This was the perfect start to the tour.” 

Sharing her excitement about the tour she adds, “I am very excited about this mega tour. This is a musically rich experience for me and my audience. And to be able to perform at venues which are so prestigious is an amazing feeling.”
