Twitter, LGBT community hail Zee 5's '377 Ab Normal'

Last year in the month of September, the Supreme Court gave out a historic verdict of scrapping Section 377 which criminalised gay sex. With this wonder decision by SC, the LGBTQ community all over the country celebrated to the fullest. People on social media even said 'Love Wins' and couldn't contain their happiness with this much-needed verdict. Now, ZEE5 has come up with a film based on the successful fight to end Section 377 and it's titled 377 अब Normal.

The movie stars Maanvi Gagroo, Tanvi Azmi, Zeeshan Ayyub, Kumud Mishra and Shashank Arora in the lead roles. It shows the depiction of the petitions which lead to the historic verdict of the Supreme Court that homosexuality is not a crime in India. The trailer for the film was released on March 13, 2019, and it was well received by the audience. Check out the trailer below.

Now, the movie finally premiered on Zee5 on March 19, 2019. Twitterati and even the LGBTQ community couldn't stop praising the film and applauded directed Faruk Kabir for his amazing work. Here's are the Twitter reactions:

Earlier, during an interaction with Indian Express, Maanvi opened up about her character stating, "For 377 Ab Normal, the character was extremely different. I play a lesbian in the film. That is something I do not relate to personally, but I have a lot of friends who are gay. I just wanted to give the character dignity without belittling it in any way."
