'Took time, but I finally got it': Taapsee Pannu opens up about her Filmfare Award win for 'Saand Ki Aankh'

Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt won Best Actor and Actress popular choice award, Ayushmann Khurrana, Bhumi Pednekar, and Taapsee Pannu impressed the critics.

One of the most looked forward to and biggest night in Bollywood, Filmfare 2020, was held in Assam and it was a night of celebration for a lot of reasons. While Gully Boy were the big winners with 13 wins, other notable films who won were Uri: The Surgical Strike, Kabir Singh, and Saand Ki Aankh. 

Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt won Best Actor and Actress popular choice award, Ayushmann Khurrana, Bhumi Pednekar, and Taapsee Pannu impressed the critics. Ayushmann won the Best Actor (Critics) award for Article 15 and Bhumi Pednekar and Taapsee Pannu bagged Best Actress (Critics) award for Saand Ki Aankh.

Recently Taapsee, in an interview, opened up about the win and her feelings about the same and said, "It took time, but I finally got it. What do I say? I have been preparing my speech since 2016 but never got the chance to say it. I had not prepared a speech this time around and I wasn't prepared."

Further talking about award controversy, "Thank god, for a change the controversy isn't about something I have done or said," she said. The actress recently also had a befitting reply when she was called 'the female Ayushmann Khurrana' after winning the award. 

Replying to producer Tanujj Garg, Taapsee wrote, "What about calling me bollywood ki pehli Taapsee Pannu?", who’d written in his original tweet, "Congrats to the powerhouse @taapsee, humaare #Bollywood ki female Ayushmann Khurrana."

On the other hand, Taapsee will be seen next in Anubhav Sinha's Thappad which is slated to release next week on 28 February.
