Aladdin director Guy Ritchie has been scouting for Indian actors to play the lead in the live-action remake of the hit animation film. However, the Snatch director hasn’t had much luck finding a suitable guy yet. Here are the actors we think fit the bill of the street hustler-turned-prince, who can sing and dance...

Varun Dhawan: He looks innocent and has enough charm to con people into believing in him, even if what he is doing is wrong! And that’s what Aladdin was good at, before he got the magic lamp. With a mix of street-smartness and vulnerability, Varun can make for the ideal pauper who falls in loves with a princess and dreams of being with her!

Sidharth Malhotra: The befuddled look a la Aladdin — especially when he comes across the magic lamp, the genie, etc — is on point. And as the man who tries to seek the affection of others, Sid can effectively bring out the sense of insecurity that lies within him. Remember Kapoor & Sons?

Tiger Shroff: This nimble-footed actor can bowl you over with his smile, earnestness and soulful eyes. Playing a crafty guy, who breaks into a song-and-dance is right up his alley, as he is not only a good dancer, but has played the role in his debut film Heropanti — a poor man who falls in love with a rich girl and dreams of being her life partner — exactly like Aladdin.

Sooraj Pancholi: He has that vulnerable, guileless look that is perfect for Aladdin. A man who can steal and distribute the gains among the needy, making for a modern-day Robin Hood, is what his debut movie was all about and how he changes after he falls in love with the heroine!

Ranveer Singh: Yes, he is eccentric, but Ranveer can convincingly create an aura of innocence around him when need be (Think Lootera and Dil Dhadakne Do). Even his face sans his beard has a resemblance to Aladdin. As for charm, he has it in bundles, and if Deepika Padukone lands the role of Jasmine, it will be a perfect match!
