Sara Ali Khan opens up about how her mother Amrita Singh recognised her at the airport after she lost 30 kgs
The gorgeous debutante, Sara Ali Khan has won us over with her outstanding performance in Kedarnath and her unpretentious, candid demeanour.
It is not just us that the 23-year-old has impressed, however. Both, audiences and critics are impressed with her wonderful performance in her debut film where she essays the role of a rich girl, named Mandakini Mishra aka Mukku, who falls in love with a poor Muslim porter, Mansoor, played by Sushant Singh Rajput.
Interestingly Sara, in one of her interviews revealed how she always wanted to be an actress and how the feeling got stronger when she was studing at the Columbia University in the US.
However, Sara Ali Khan weighed 96 kgs at that time and knew that she could not be in the industry in that physical shape.
The talented actress told SpotboyE that she told her mom, actress Amrita Singh, crying on the phone that she wanted to become an actress and was told to lose weight.
Hence, Sara ditched her love for pizzas and hit the gym seven days a week and lost 30 kgs in a year and a half.
She also made sure that she finished two years of her studies in a year so that she could start working early.
The daughter of actor Saif Ali Khan also went on to say that her post-weight loss look took some time for her mother Amrita to register.
She told the portal how she did not face-time with her mom for four months.
The debutante said, “I didn't. September was the start of the semester and December was the end. In those 4 months, I even refrained from face-timing her. And, she recognised me at the airport only because of my suitcases; I was looking completely different. Obviously, 30 kg down, you ARE going to look different.”
Now, how funny is that!
Meanwhile, Sara Ali Khan-Sushant Singh Rajput-starrer Kedarnath, released on December 7 and is doing pretty well at the box office.
