This film has dethroned Prabhas' 'Baahubali' at the Chennai box office

Four months since SS Rajamouli's magnum opus Baahubali 2: The Conclusion created a storm at the box office. No other film had managed to come close to its collection, but only until now. As Ajith's latest release Vivegam has performed phenomenally in Chennai. Inspite of mixed reviews for the film, Vivegam managed to dethrone Rajinkanth's last release, Vivegam collected 1.21 crores on day one while Kabali earned 1.2 crores. Released on 24th August, Ajith's action packed film has collected a record breaking earnings of 7.15 crores in Chennai itself. And now with 8.50 crores in collections, this film has now broken the record of Baahubali's collections of 8.25 crores. 

Unaffected by a mixed response from fans and critics alike, Ajith's stylish actioner has managed to beat the biggest blockbuster of all times...and that too on the home turf.

Internationally, the film has grossed Rs 100 crore which includes 69.60 crores at the domestic box office and the film has earned Rs 36.50 crore overseas. But many reports even suggest, that Vivegam might be faring decently at the BO but the film is yet to beat Thala’s previous film Vedhalam’s BO collection.

Vivegam marks the third collaboration of Ajith-Siva. After playing local massy roles, Ajith has gone in for a stylish makeover for this action packed ride. The film was shot in picturesque locales and has an international appeal. Not just his salt and pepper look, Ajith’s six pack abs are also a highlight of the film.. The movie also stars Kajal Aggarwal, Akshara Haasan and Vivek Oberoi. The music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander.
