Sidharth Malhotra, Sonakshi Sinha and Akshaye Khanna-starrer Ittefaq stands out from the crowd because of the genre. Ever since the trailer of the thriller came out, fans have been waiting to see more. And, now, the wait ends. Ittefaq is a songless film, but it will feature a promotional song that is a reprised version of the iconic Namak Halal song — Raat Baki. The song is being launched today.

The track is titled Ittefaq Se, as the line from the original ‘Pyar Se’ has been changed to ‘Ittefaq Se’. This was done keeping the thriller genre of the movie in mind, which gives the song an interesting twist and is a clever word play.

THEN AND NOW

For those who came in late, the iconic song, Raat Baki, was composed by Bappi Lahiri, who sang it with along with Asha Bhosle and Shashi Kapoor. Says a source, “The song will be heard in an all-new avatar in Ittefaq. Remix expert Tanishk Bagchi, who has recreated popular old Hindi film tracks in recent times, has lent his magic to this track as well.” The lyrics are originally written by Anjaan with support on additional lyrics by Tanishk and vocals by Jubin Nautiyal and Nikita Gandhi.

THE KEY CHARACTERS

The video of the song stars all the three protagonists — Sidharth, Sonakshi and Akshaye. The source further adds, “Though it is a groovy number, it does not involve any dancing, keeping in mind the intense space and mood of the film. All the three stars will portray their character in the music video as well, thus taking forward the theme and maintaining the mysterious vibe.”

KEEPING IT CRISP

The movie is an adaptation of the Yash Chopra’s 1969 hit film by the same name, which starred Rajesh Khanna and Nanda. That film, too, was devoid of any songs. Says the source, “The song will be a part of the credit roll, as Ittefaq is a songless thriller with a run time of only 100 minutes!” The movie is slated for a theatrical release on November 3.

Ittefaq directed by Abhay Chopra, is co-produced by Red Chillies Entertainment, BR Studios, and Dharma Productions.
