Even before the release of Deepika Padukone starrer Chhapaak, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh government declared the film tax free in their states. Now, Ajay Devgn's Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior has been declared State GST free in Uttar Pradesh. Confirming the same, ANI UP tweeted, "Uttar Pradesh government declares Ajay Devgan starrer film 'Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior' as State GST (SGST) free in the state."

Sharing his happiness, Ajay took to his Twitter page and thanked Yogi Adityanath for it. He tweeted, "Thank you Shri Yogi Adityanathji for making #TanhajiTheUnsungWarrior Tax-Free in Uttar Pradesh. I would also be delighted Sir if you watched our film @myogiadityanath #TanhajiUnitesIndia"

Recently, BJP MLA Shweta Mahale from Chikhali Assembly in Maharashtra, also demanded Tanhaji be tax-free in the state. She stated, "This movie tells the story of Tanaji Malusare, a royalty of Maharashtran soil. If made tax-free, common and poor people of Maharashtra can also see the movie in the theatres."

Shweta added, "He was so brave that he decided to go for the Kondhana battle first and then to hold the wedding of his son. He won the Kondhana but was martyred at the end of it."

Talking about Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, the film is directed by debutant Om Raut and also stars Saif Ali Khan as the main antagonist Uday Bhan Rathore and Kajol as Tanhaji's wife Savitri. The film also has Sharad Kelkar playing the role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
