After meeting top officials at 5 pm on Wednesday, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh has concluded that there would be no (Central Bureau of Investigation) CBI probe in Sushant Singh Rajput's death case. He stated that the Mumbai Police is carrying out the investigation well on their own, so there is no need for CBI involvment in the matter.

Meanwhile, the opposition, Sushant's fans and a few celebrities like Shekhar Suman, Kangana Ranaut, among others, have urged the Maharashtra government to order a CBI probe in the matter.

Anil Deshmukh had held the meeting a day after Sushant Singh Rajput's father KK Singh had lodged an FIR with the Bihar Police against Sushant's actor-girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty. The family accused Rhea of abetment to suicide and exploiting the late actor financially, among other charges.

A meeting was also held at Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray's residence on Wednesday. Various top officials were part of the meeting along with Uddhav's associates. It was decided then that there was no need for CBI probe in the matter, since the Mumbai Police was capable of handling the case.

While the Mumbai Police has investigated around 38 people in the death case, Bihar Police has started a probe of their own after KK Singh's FIR was lodged there.

Sushant Singh Rajput was found hanging in his Bandra apartment on June 14, 2020. Mumbai Police had concluded that the actor committed suicide under depression.
