Sunny Leone forays into Marathi films with a raunchy take-off on Rekha’s chart-busting laavni from the Marathi film, Fataakdi (1980). Clad in a nine-yards sari, Sunny swayed to Kuthe Kuthe Jaayacha Honeymoon-la remixed by Avadhoot Gupte in the upcoming Marathi movie, Boyz. “Since the laavni moves and steps were rather alien to Leone, she was keen on watching the original Rekha song, just to get the feel,” reveals choreographer Ganesh Acharya, who did not charge a single rupee as he considered it ‘a tribute to the iconic Rekha’. “For the first time, I wore a Marathi attire and discovered I looked traditionally beautiful,” gushed Sunny, who has also sported western outfits as she dances to snatches of yet another remix pop song in the same track. Did they face any objection from the Censor Board over Sunny’s moves? “No. However, since they felt that the adolescent-son-estranged-from-h-s mother theme and other sensitive scenes required parental guidance, we agreed for a ‘U/A’ certificate,” discloses debutant director Vishal Devrukhkar,. who conducted an extensive pre-shoot market survey to figure out the favourite fantasy-female among the youthful boys. “An overwhelming majority picked on Sunny’s name. That’s why we got her to perform our Indo-western item-dance,” he justifies.
