Well, none of us had even the slightest of hint that Veere Di Wedding actor Sumeet Vyas was dating Mere Angne Mein actress Ekta Kaul, and when the couple recently revealed that they are a couple, it took everyone by surprise, a pleasant surprise we must admit!
First, the two remained quiet about their relationship and kept things under wraps, and when they did speak about it, they dropped a bomb on everyone as they announced their engagement.
The lovebirds, who have been dating each other for quite some time now and first met six years ago, stayed away from the media glare for this long.
While talking to Mid Day, the Sumeet spoke at length about his journey with his ladylove so far.
He said, “We actually met six years ago when we were shooting for a pilot of a television show which never took off. I met her again on a show I was hosting, where she was a contestant. We kept in touch. I called her for a play a few months later; I just wanted to impress her [laughs].”
The actor further shared that he slowly found out Ekta had become his home where he can come and rest.
“I don’t have one-liners, just the straightforward approach worked. At the core of it, she is ambitious, kind and her values are intact. I love that she isn’t filmy. Sadly, films are all I used to talk about, my friends and family are from this industry. I discovered the art of conversation with her. We don’t discuss common people we know or criticise projects that aren’t good enough. She became the home I could come back to and disconnect from work. I love that we both are desi."
Sumeet also went on to say that he was amazed when Ekta told him that she too has feelings for him.
"It was a moment of sheer astonishment when she said she likes me too. That’s love, it requires no logic and no reason,” said the Permanent Roommates’ actor.
For the uninitiated, Sumeet Vyas was earlier married to the 24 actress Shivani Tanksale for seven years before they parted ways in 2017.
“We were intelligent people, who knew after a point, that we can’t make each other happy. In the effort to sustain a marriage, we were losing out a friendship,” shared the actor.
Ekta Kaul and Sumeet Vyas are all set to get hitched in September in Jammu, and we wish the lovely couple a lifetime of happiness!
