'Student Of The Year 2' Box Office Report Day 3: Tiger Shroff's film maintains steady pace despite IPL final, election

The first weekend is over and the box office results are out for Student of the Year 2. The film helmed by Punit Malhotra stars Tiger Shroff, debutantes Ananya Panday and Tara Sutaria in the lead roles. The film released on Friday minted Rs 12.06 crore on its opening which is definitely decent. On its first Saturday, SOTY 2 went on to show 16% growth than the first day as it made Rs 14.02 crore.

Now, the Sunday collections are out. Talking about its first weekend, trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, "#StudentOfTheYear2 has a decent weekend, but when compared to Tiger Shroff’s earlier releases [data follows], the numbers should’ve been higher than #Baaghi [2016] at least... #SOTY2 has an important task ahead: It needs to maintain the pace on weekdays."

Tiger, Ananya and Tara's film has made about Rs 12.75 crore on Sunday and total weekend collections are Rs 38.83 crore. Sunday was slightly affected due to the Phase 6 of Lok Sabha Elections and IPL final match. Student of the Year 2 is the sequel to Karan Johar's directorial Student of the Year released in 2012. With that film, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra made their debut in Bollywood.
