Sridevi: The ultimate fashionista who made India fall in love with six-yards

Sridevi, one of Indian cinema’s iconic superstars, passed away on Saturday night following a cardiac arrest in Dubai. The actress, who was 54, was in the UAE to attend Mohit Marwah and Antara Motiwala’s wedding along with her husband Boney Kapoor, younger daughter Khushi and extended family members.

The diva, who was the reigning queen of Bollywood in the 1980s and early 1990s, not only had an impressive career which spanned over five-decades but she was a style icon in her own right. She managed to become a trendsetter in her times, constantly experimenting with different looks and disguises. Her style transformed over the years and she was one actress who made the six-yard attire look gorgeous like no one ever could. 

But apart from her enviable look in a saree, she could carry off her modern-day fashionista avatar with full panache, showing us time and again that she was aging like fine wine. From wearing ace designers like Manish Malhotra (who was also her favourite), Sabyasachi and Falguni and Shane Peacock, her airport looks were as famous. 

Days before her shocking demise, we saw her looking ethereal at her nephew’s wedding as she donned beautiful ethnic numbers. While we reminisce the diva who lit up the silver screen, let’s not forget that she was will always have our hearts for those expressive eyes, mischievous smile and enviable style.
