Bhumi Pednekar has had only three releases so far, but she’s striving for perfection with every film. Ever since the trailer her upcoming movie, Sonchiriya, have been out, the actress is pleased to hear how she looked unrecognisable and became the character she’s portraying in this dacoit drama. After all, she had to endure long hours for her make-up sessions every day, to undergo the metamorphosis into her character.

A source tells us that the actress wore a lot of make-up for this Abhishek Chaubey-directorial, to make her skin look sunburnt, weather-beaten and pigmented. “The idea was to get her tanned down three to four shades to make her resemble someone who works under the sun in the arid, hot, burnt Chambal valley. It was quite a process every single day for her to look the part,” explains our informer.

It sure is commendable for a cool urban girl-next-door to constantly change herself for her on-screen avatars and carry difficult parts with conviction. After starting her movie career as an overweight but self-assured woman in her debut, Dum Laga Ke Haisha (2015), she has consistently taken diverse roles in her subsequent ventures like Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan (2017) and the anthology, Lust Stories (2018). “In Sonchiriya, Bhumi plays a village girl from the 1970s Chambal who picks up the gun to fight for what she believes in. So her constant endeavour is to attempt something different in every film she does,” points out our source.
