Bollywood actress and fashion icon Sonam Kapoor is making news yet again, albeit for the wrong reasons. Sonam's recent statement of 'freedom in London' wasn't received well by internet users.

Sonam, who is currently living in London where she is spending some quality time with her husband Anand Ahuja, grabbed the headlines after she recently told a publication that she enjoys the freedom she has in London. While describing her daily routine, Sonam stated that she loves doing her household chores.

In an interaction with Vogue magazine, the 'Aisha' star said, "I like the freedom here. I make my own food, clean my own space, shop for my own groceries." She further talked about how emotionally taxing the pandemic was for her. She said, "Friends have lost their parents. Young people have passed away, people I know. I didn't sleep for a month. I love living here, but India is where my heart is."

Sonam's 'freedom in London' statement was received with a pinch of salt by netizens who called out her privileges and expressed that she could've done all the household chores in India as well and that no one forces her to hire house help in the country.

One user wrote, "She has proved it time and again that she is a dumbo, is it? Do maids and housekeeping staff enter forcefully in her houses?#FreedomOfSpeech है कोई भी कुछ भी बोल सकता है विभीषण 's of Bollywood."

"India has no FREEDOM. Maid's, Cooks enters home forcefully and don't let you do anything. #ThursdayThoughts #SonamKapoor," wrote another.

"#SonamKapoor #Dada #भारत_की_ताकत_मोदी भारत में ये FREEDOM एन्जॉय करने से किसने रोका था आपको?? देश में घरेलू काम करने में शर्म और विदेश में करो तो freedom...वाह !! भारतीय महिलाओं को second class citizen कहने वाली मोहतरमा @sonamakapoor के दोगलेपन की भी हद है।" commented another user on Twitter.

"Starting a petition to book all the house helps and maids who forcefully enter our homes and rob us of the freedom to do our own work. #FreedomToDoHouseChores #SonamKapoor," wrote yet another Twitter user sarcastically.
