Sohum Shah to announce a sequel to the fantasy thriller 'Tumbbad'?

Actor-producer Sohum Shah last year released the fantasy thriller Tumbbad. The film had made a staggering impact on the fantasy genre and its technical know-how in Indian cinema. While celebration one year anniversary of the film's release Sohum teased fans about a new announcement coming soon.

The “special announcement” post had led to speculation among fans in the comments section. Some demanded a sequel while some asked if Tumbbad 2 is in making. Sohum Shah captioned the post as "After all the love we've received from you all in the past year humne decide kiya ki aap sab ke liye kuch special karenge #Tumbbad ke first anniversary pe. #1YearOfTumbbad." The shared video shows clips from the film with its most intense dialogues, and announces in the end 'Something special is coming'.

A source close to the makers revealed that the enthusiasm of the fans for the film has them thinking about turning it into a franchise, “Tumbbad is considered to be a game-changer in the fantasy-thriller genre. For a while now, there has been a growing chorus among fans for a prequel or sequel to the film. Keeping that response in mind, the makers are keen to take the narrative to the next level," the source said.

Tumbbad reportedly was six years in the making and received love from critics and audience at the box office. Once out of the theatres it moved on to the OTT platform and has been gaining a steady fan following. Directed by Rahi Anil Barve and starring Sohum Shah the film released on October 12, 2018
