After Bollywood celebrities, including his own family, reacted to news of Amitabh Bachchan being selected for Dadasaheb Phalke Awards for the year 2018, the megastar himself reacted to the news. Big B was speaking at an event, which is when he learnt the news.

Upon realizing about the honour, Amitabh Bachchan showered gratitude. "I am deeply grateful and so humbled. My sincerest gratitude," Bachchan senior told India Today TV.

Amitabh Bachchan completes 50 years in the industry and he would be honoured with one of the greatest titles for a celebrity in India. Informing the world about the decision of honouring Amitabh Bachchan for Dadasaheb Phalke Award for the year 2018, information and broadcasting minister Prakash Javadekar had tweeted, "The legend Amitabh Bachchan who entertained and inspired for 2 generations has been selected unanimously for #DadaSahabPhalke award. The entire country and international community is happy. My heartiest Congratulations to him. @narendramodi @SrBachchan"

Amitabh Bachchan, who was last seen in Sujoy Ghosh's movie Badla alongside Taapsee Pannu and Amrita Singh, will next appear in the mega project Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy in a brief role alongside megastar Chiranjeevi.

Apart from Sye Raa, Big B will also appear in Nagraj Manjule's Jhund, followed by his 2020 releases - Ayan Mukerji's Brahmastra alongside Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Mouni Roy, Rumi Jafry's Chehre alongside Emraan Hashmi and Shoojit Sircar's Gulabo Sitabo alongside Ayushmann Khurrana.
