Shraddha Kapoor-Shahid Kapoor together again?

The last time Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor shared screen space, it was for Vishal Bhardwaj’s Haider (2014). Shahid and Shraddha’s jodi was liked by the audience, but they didn’t sign any more films together. Now, it looks like the two Kapoors may be cast together. The makers of Batti Gul Meter Chalu are in talks with Shraddha for the project to be directed by Shree Narayan Singh of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha fame. Like TEPK, this movie too will be produced by KriArj Entertainment. The first choice for the role was Katrina Kaif. However, due to date issues, she couldn’t take it up. 

A source says, “The makers recently got in touch with Shraddha. She has been briefed about the role.” The source adds, “The producers were looking for an A-list heroine to be cast opposite Shahid, who plays a lawyer in the film. However, it will require some prep. Katrina couldn’t sign the film because she didn’t have the time to do so.” The film is about a common man’s fight against power distribution companies.

A good year for Shraddha

If Shraddha does take on this project, she will have a very strong line-up to boast of. The actress, who is shooting for Saaho with Prabhas, also has the Saina Nehwal biopic on her slate this year. We reached out to Prernaa Arora of KriArj Entertainment to confirm the news, but the producer hadn’t reverted to our message till the time of going to press.
