‘Shanaya’s working towards movies’: Sanjay Kapoor on his daughter's Bollywood debut and more

On Monday, Sanjay Kapoor’s niece Janhvi’s debut film Dhadak’s trailer was unveiled with a lot of fanfare. The actor was in attendance with his entire family, including wife Maheep, son Jahaan, and daughter Shanaya. Dressed in flared denims and a floral top, the latter made quite a few heads turn. When we asked Sanjay about his daughter’s plans to venture into the world of acting, he said, “Honestly, I really don’t know when that will happen. She has just  finished her 12th standard and she’s working towards it. But she hasn’t signed anything till now; she’s too young. Hopefully, soon enough,” says the doting father. 

The youngster is pretty popular on social media, and is constantly in the spotlight with people commenting on everything from her looks to her clothes. Has he advised her on how to handle all the attention? “I do feel protective about her. She has a private account on Instagram. But few things are beyond our control. She’s a young girl who will go out for movies or to restaurants. We’re not going to lock her up in the house just because a photograph will get clicked,” he says. As for the trolls, Sanjay believes that one can’t take what they say seriously.  “We have told her not to take the praises or criticism seriously. You just have to keep working hard and be focused. However, she has been quite fortunate as most of the times people talk very sweetly about her. So, I am really grateful for that.”
