Looks like the upcoming film Batti Gul Meter Chalu has found itself in legal trouble. On May 19, 2018, DNA After Hrs reported that Bhushan Kumar's Super Cassettes Industries Limited (T-Series), had taken over the Shahid Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor and Yami Gautam starrer Batti Gul Meter Chaalu (BGMC) from Prernaa Arora and Arjun Kapoor's KriArj Entertainment. The film had hit a roadblock after KriArj got into financial trouble. Eventually, the music baron and film producer took over the movie that is also being produced by director Shree Narayan Singh.

Even as the shooting resumed on May 18 in Mumbai, we hear that Bhushan's company filed a commercial suit against KriArj and EaseMyTrip.com (headed by Nishant Pitti) in the Delhi High Court seeking a permanent injunction and declaration in respect of certain rights (the right to revenue share) over the film BGMC.

On the other hand, EasemyTrip.com through its director, through its director Nishant Pitti, also filed a suit against T-Series and KriArj seeking injunction and declaration of right of first lien over the revenues of the film.

After extensively hearing all the parties. the Honourable Court is said to have observed that serious disputes have been raised over the genuineness of agreements, letter and chats placed on record by them and accordingly the same needs to be dealt with in depth.

After hearing the parties present, the Honourable Court, while issuing the notice in the matters, has reportedly directed both KriArj and EaseMyTrip.com to file their written statements and allowed T-Series to go ahead and complete the movie.

At the same time, the Honourable Court, while protecting the rights of all the stakeholders, reportedly directed that any/all monies received by creating rights for exploitation and distribution of BGMC shall be deposited in an Escrow Account which shall be subject to the Court’s direction.

The next hearing of the matters is scheduled for July 5, 2018.
