Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus Padmaavat finally hit the theatres on January 25, after facing a lot of protests, controversies and violence by fringe groups as well. While the Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor starrer film is gathering mixed responses from the audience and the critics alike, nevertheless, it continues to rake in the moolah at the box office.

After watching the film, some are in awe of Bhansali's vision and the opulence and magnificence with which the film has been shot. On the other hand, others believe that Bhansali ended up glorifying the practise of Jauhar and Sati in the climax of the film (despite claiming that they do not subscribe or support the practise of Jauhar and Sati in any manner).

Like a lot of cinegoers, actress Swara Bhasker too seemed to have a few problems with the SLB film which she penned down in an open letter to Bhansali, published by The Wire. She mentioned that while watching the film, she felt "reduced to a vagina" and advocated the right to life for a rape victim. The letter has now gone viral, sparking a debate online.

As always, some are on Swara's side while others are busy trolling her on social media. Now, Shahid Kapoor, who plays the character of Maharawal Ratan Singh in Padmaavat, has reacted to Swara's open letter.

A report on Navbharat Times quoted Shahid as saying, "Yes, I have come to know that Swara has written a letter, but honestly, I have not yet read it yet, the letter is quite long and we are all really busy. I do not know what her issue is, maybe whatever issue she has is with Sanjay Sir."

Shahid added, "I would say that this time is not for such things, Padmaavat has been representing the whole film industry. It is also representing freedom of expression and freedom of speech. It has been really difficult to make this film reach the audience. When the entire film fraternity is standing with us, in such a situation this open letter looks a bit awkward. But she has written about her personal opinion, and everyone has the right to have one."
